“Neutral patriots” are deserting NPP; Gabby Otchere-Darko bemoans

Gabby Otchere-Darko is frustrated over government's achievements

A member of the inner circle of President Akuffo Addo’s government, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has beamoned his fears on persons he calls “neutral patriots” over their failure to praise the government for its achievements, noting that such persons either keep quiet about government’s achievements or find a way to downplay their impact or dent them.

The first cousin of the president and a member of the New Patriotic Party, who is somewhat described as the de facto prime minister in the Akuffo Addo administration,  seem to concede to the larger public opinions of the government performance as being mediocre and short of expectations.

Gabby Otchere-Darko is frustrated that, the middle class in the political space have failed to recognise the gains made by government.

For him, their actions expose their genuineness or otherwise with respect to their criticism of the ruling NPP government.

“If you really want to know the genuineness of the neutral patriots, watch how they react to good news. They are either mute or they will find a way to downplay or dent it,” he wrote on facebook.

He made the comment following the unveiling of the first VW Vehicle Assembly Plant in Ghana yesterday and the seeming lack of praise from persons who regularly criticise government.

The unveiling of similar plants in other African countries, especially Rwanda, attracted much praise from some Ghanaians known to be critical of government.

Mr Asare Otchere-Darko contends that the silence of supposed neutral government critics exposes their insincerity or partially.

The Akuffo Addo government has been accused of spending without any critical plan which has hugely impacted on Ghana’s international debt stock.

The government continues to argue most of the spending has gone into national projects such as their flagship free senior high school programme. However, critics say the government spendings are unjustifiable and do not offer value for money.
