The Ashanti Chapter of the Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners will hit the streets of Kumasi in the Ashanti region today to demonstrate against government over its failure to lift the ban on small scale mining.

A Press statement issued last week reminded all small scale miners to warm up for the biggest showdown billed for today,Tuesday 20th November, 2018.

Organizers of the protest say the impending march “will shake the streets of Kumasi and again send signal to the whole world about the unfair treatment meted out to indigenous small scale miners by the NPP government.”

Government, in 2017 suspended artisanal and small scale mining activities in the country to enable it come out with a comprehensive structure and regulation for sustainable mining, but the government is yet to normalize activities in the sector after its intervention.
