Assin South: Police Commander bathed with hot soup

The Assin South Police Commander Superintendent Isaac Tetteh, has been attacked by some residents of Assin Dansami in the Assin North district of the Central region.

He in the process had hot soup poured on him by a woman who has since taken to her heels.

The incident happened when the police moved into the town to ensure order following fracas between authorities of Ghana Water Company(GWC) and the local management board of the water stations as officials of Ghana Water Company wanted to formally take over the management of the said pipes.

Government in the year 2017 directed all water pumps and stations to be taken over by the Ghana Water Company to manage ; a decision that has not gone well with the local board that was in charge of the Water Pumping Station at Dansami as all the towns in the district have since handed management of the pumping stations to Ghana Water except that of Dansami Community.

The police explain that it took the effort of some bigwigs in the town to convince the local management board to surrender the keys to authorities of Ghana Water Company.

They add that the said intervention even tended to be short-lived as the local board stormed the water station to drive away Ghana Water officials from managing the pumping station and even locked the pumping thereby denying the town of water for a whole day.

One of the members of the board by name Kwaku Frimpong who is said to be the chairman was also said to be brandishing cutlasses in the town to prevent people from assessing the pipes and in the process had injured four people in the process.

The police explain that a distress call from the chief from the town to salvage the situation forced the police to move in to arrest the said deviant only to encounter serious resistance from some persons from the home of the Kwaku Frimpong with one of his relatives pouring a pot of hot soup on him and later taking to her heels.

Two of the rabble-rousers including Kwaku Frimpong have since been arrested by the police and being processed for court. –
