Key suspect arrested in Kafaba lynching

The woman who was seen in images and viral video allegedly whipping the 90-year-old woman to her death at Kafaba in the Savanna region has been arrested.

The suspect, whose name is yet to be disclosed, was arrested at Abrumase by the Police surveillance team.

Her arrest brings to six the total number of suspects arrested in connection with the lynching.

On Wednesday five people in the community surrendered themselves to the police after the chief of Kafaba was picked up over the heinous crime.

Madam Akua Denteh was beaten to death in public for allegedly being a witch.

The IGP has announced a two thousand Ghana Cedis (GhC2,000) reward for information leading to the arrest of any of the suspects.

Meanwhile, the immediate past Chairman of the Church Of Pentecost Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah has blamed the lynching on false beliefs.

According to him, Some Ghanaians are increasingly becoming victims of the teachings of false prophets who misinterpret the bible.

“When I saw it I said this is a sad day for Ghana, this is shameful, dark period. This happened because of the false belief system. They are thinking that the woman is the cause of their problem which is not true. And then they are believing what the traditional priestess is saying which also is evil.

“All those things are wrong, it is the false belief system. Why is it that not one person or two people could be bold enough to take this woman away from there?”.
