Ayawaso West Wuogon: fmr president Kufuor’s son to run

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor son, Mr Edward Agyekum Kufuor has collected nomination forms from the NPP office to enable him to contest in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election which has become vacant due to the death of the MP, Mr Emmanuel K. Agyarko.

The businessman, who is also an actor, is among some of the other aspirants to be vetted by the party ahead of the elections.

He is facing competition from the Assembly Member for the Legon Electoral Area, Victoria Esinam Ansah Offei; Deputy Chief Executive of the National Youth Authority, Richard Joojo Obeng; and Samuel Amankwah, a former Constituency Youth Organiser, classfmonline reports.

Mr Kufuor told journalists on Sunday, 23 December 2018 while filing his nomination that: “I have realised that the best way to bring about change is by stepping up, because if you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem.”

He added: “In fact, look at our track record, consider what NPP has done for this constituency and what the late Agyarko also achieved. Looking at all this work done, why won’t it be possible for the NPP to retain the seat.”
