Appointments C’ttee withholds approval of Bono Regional Minister nominee

The Appointments Committee of Parliament has withheld approval for the nominee for Bono Regional Minister Designate, Evelyn Kumi-Richardson because her nomination is still being considered.

The Bono Regional Minister Designate, Evelyn Richardson who is currently MCE for Sunyani had question marks raised about some of her academic qualifications during her vetting.

Other issues such as her human relations, some travels she undertook as MCE are some of the issues that the Minority brought under intense scrutiny during her appearance before the committee.

The Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu insisted that the Evelyn Kumi-Richardson must provide further information on some audit queries and land issues under her purview as Sunyani MCE.

“The onus is not on us as the appointments committee. The onus is on her to provide further and better paricuers to answers on questions on an audit query and matters related to land.”

The Chairman of the Committee and First Deputy Speaker, Joe Osei Owusu said the consideration “is still ongoing and a report will be brought to the House subsequently.”

Apart from her, all other nominees for the various Ministerial and deputy ministerial roles have been approved for the House.

The list includes some ministers and their deputies for the newly created regions as well as Tourism Minister-designate, Barbara Oteng Gyasi and Deputy Health Minister, Alexander Abban.
