Western Region: Police officer commits suicide

A marine police officer, Fuseini Mohammed, has allegedly shot himself dead at Half Assini, DGN Online reports.

The police officer stationed with the Marine Police in Anyinase, was said to be on duty at Osagyefo Berge, Effasu near Half Assini.

He is reported to have killed himself with an AK 47 assault rifle after he had accordingly sent his colleague, Iddrisu Kafando Muntari, with whom he was on duty, to buy him a shaving blade.

He is deceased left behind a ‘suicide’ note that reads “I cannot take this disgrace, something I don’t know.”

 

The note contains names of his wife and two other persons.

It is not yet known what could have caused him to take his own life.

In another development, the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, D.S.P Shiela Abayie Buckman has said that the deceased officer had no link to the theft case under investigation on the Osagyefo Barge, Kasapafmonline.com reported.

“He’s not part of the people who have been interdicted, in fact, he wasn’t part of the suspects.”

She added the investigations continues into the circumstances leading to the police officer taking his life.
