Samsung to launch S10, foldable smartphone on 20 February – report

Samsung Electronics plans to unveil its 10th anniversary flagship smartphone lineup and show a fully functional foldable-screen handset at events on 20 February in San Francisco and London, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal.

The company will hold its own events for the new devices, rather than waiting as usual for the Mobile World Congress at end-February in Barcelona.

Samsung is preparing a major technical upgrade for the 10th anniversary Galaxy S10, adding bigger screens and more cameras, the paper reported in November. Initially the company will offer the Galaxy S10 in three variants, with the phones hitting shelves in March. A fourth version will feature 5G and be released later in the spring, according to the WSJ’s sources.

Samsung has signaled to partners that the foldable-screen phone could be released in April, though no final decision has been made, the report said. The device’s name is still being determined, with ‘Fold’, ‘Galaxy Fold’ and ‘Galaxy F’ three possibilities, the people said.

A Samsung spokesman declined to comment.
