My party is popular than NPP and NDC combinee_Akua Donkor

The Leader and Founder of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Madam Akua Donkor has bragged that her party is more popular than the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

She justifies that by saying the initial attempt by their founders to come into power was through coup d’etats and other forms of violence.

According to her, the founders of these largest political parties engaged in series of coups before becoming Presidents by overthrowing constitutionally elected Presidents.

But being an illiterate woman, she was able to set up a political party with proper documentations but the founders of both NDC and NPP did not go through any struggle of signing documents.

Madam Akua Donkor alleged that the President’s father Edward Akufo-Addo was part of the people who overthrew the Nkrumah’s government whereas former President Jerry John Rawlings also overthrew Hilla Limann’s government.

She indicated that her party is bigger and recognized by law than NDC and NPP whose founders used guns to be in government.

‘My achievement is remarkable, few men have been able to do this, my party is bigger and more recognised by law than NDC, NPP because Ghana’s former Presidents such as Edward Akufo-Addo, the father of President Akufo-Addo, Jerry John Rawlings assumed office through coups, they didn’t go through any hustle of signing documents to form political parties as I did,’ she pointed out in an interview with Abusua FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

She underscored that her feat is remarkable and should be given an award citing the former first Lady and founder of National Democratic Party (NDP) could not maintain her political party but she has been on the forefront of politics all these years with her party still in existence.

This she said the President should have talked about her achievements in Canada considering the fact she is one of the women in the country who have made giant strides in the political landscape.

The President speaking during Women Deliver 2019 Conference in Vancouver, Canada said Ghanaian women have done little to deserve a place in national decision making due to a lack of dynamism.

“We are not seeing enough dynamism and activism on the part of those who are seeking. I am talking about dynamism where it matters…electing people to Parliament, controlling political parties because they are the instruments by which our societies make decisions.

“We are talking about decisions, not wishes and hopes, we are talking about decisions that are going to make the difference,” President Akufo-Addo said.

But Madam Akua Donkor said President Akufo-Addo should have been proud about the successes she has chalked in the political space by citing her as an example during his speech because her party is more popular than all the political parties in the country.
