Mortal remains of NDC’s UK & Ireland women organizer to be laid to rest today

The mortal remains of the late NDC UK and Ireland chapter Women’s Organiser Louisa Nelson will be interred today, June 22, 2019 in Ghana’s capital city Accra.

Her body arrived in Ghana Thursday ahead of the final burial today.

Louisa Nelson popularly known as Mama Lou who was the sitting NDC women organiser in UK & Ireland died in April 2019 after a short ailment.

She will however be laid in state for filling past at the Presbyterian Church-Teshie before a traditional sending off the same day.

It is at this occasion that several personalities both in diaspora and back home, academia, politics, friends and sympathizers are expected to pay their last respects.

Top of the list will be former President Mahama who is also the NDC flagbearer for 2020 polls and the founder of the National Democratic Congress, Jerry John Rawlings.

Other top NDC national executives led by party National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo are also expected to join the two former presidents and family of the late Louisa Nelson for the funeral rites.

Ghanamatters.com also understands delegation NDC executives in the United Kingdom and other European countries have arrived in the country to show their last respect and sympathize with the bereaved family.

Louisa Nelson was the women’s organiser for the opposition NDC UK & Ireland’s chapter since 2014. She was re-elected in September 2018 for another four years until her untimely death.

She played a key role in the re-election of former President John Dramani Mahama as flagbearer of the party ahead of the 2020 polls.

Louisa Nelson was survived by 2 daughters and 2 sons.
