Mahama, Alabi to file nominations on Monday

Two presidential aspirants of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Alabi and former President John Dramani Mahama, have announced that they will file their nominations to contest the flagbearership of the party on Monday, December 17, 2018.

Mr Mahama met with former appointees of his government in Accra last Wednesday where he indicated that he would present his nomination forms on Monday.

The meeting formed part of his stakeholder engagements for the upcoming flagbearership elections of the NDC.

Mahama’s appreciation

Mr Mahama, who expressed appreciation for the donations and support that his campaign had received from ordinary people, also spoke on a wide range of topical issues, including the misgovernance and deception by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as well as the latest attempt by the government to introduce drone technology in the health delivery system.

Meanwhile, Mr Joshua Alabi is also scheduled to submit his nomination forms on Monday at 11am. This was confirmed by Mr Richard Quashigah, the Spokesperson for Mr Alabi, Graphic Online reports.

According to Mr Quashigah, the candidature of Prof. Alabi has received overwhelming support across the country.

Alabi upbeat

He said Prof. Alabi, who is currently campaigning in the Ashanti Region, is very upbeat and thankful to the numerous NDC members, supporters and sympathisers who have thrown their weight behind his candidature.

Relatedly, in his Facebook post on Wednesday, the former Vice Chancellor of University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) said his mission was simple, and that was  “to deliver victory2020 for the NDC, so as to revolutionise agriculture, create businesses in the agric sector and unleash unprecedented job opportunities for our teeming unemployed youth.”

He wrote that “I am determined to build a just society that offers opportunity to every Ghanaian, irrespective of where you were born, how you were born, who you were born to and the circumstances of your upbringing.”

The NDC primaries are scheduled for January 26, 2019.
