International Day of Football and Friendship marked in Ghana

Goalkick Foundation, has marked this year’s International Day of Football and Friendship with a gala competition at the East La Astroturf in Accra.

Sponsored by Gazprom as an International Social Children project and spearheaded by Football for Friendship, the event brought together three U13 football teams to spread the message of friendship and tolerance among children.

The Director of Sports, National Sports Authority, Kweku Abedu Wilson, in his speech said the playing of football knows no race, brings unity, tolerance, teamwork and creates friendship above all

Shaibu Ali Ayornu, President of Goalkick Foundation said, ” Today we celebrate the International Friendship Day. It is a day set a side to bring kids together to have fun and socialize and promote the values of friendship, equality and respect for other cultures. I will say the program was a success because we were able to achieve our aim of bringing the kids together. They related very nicely and I believe everyone had fun”.

FC Dynamic, won the three team round-robin event and received The Friendship trophy for their effort.
