Government rewards some 39 retired diplomats

The Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Thursday, 20 December 2018, conferred special awards on some 39 former career diplomats at a special ceremony in Accra in recognition of their services to the Ghana.

The awardees had served the nation in various capacities such as ambassadors, ministers and deputy ministers of state, secretary to the cabinet and chief directors, among others.


Dr Mahamudu Bawumia eulogized the awardees as “role models for our generation and generations to come.”


About twenty four of the invited diplomats were represented by their families, who came to receive their awards. The twenty four awardees were thought to have passed on.


Dr Bawumia, on behalf of the nation, expressed gratitude to them for their “dedication and support in promoting our foreign policy objectives for decades. We are truly proud of you.”
