Ghana’s CID boss is a politician….NDC “general mosquito”

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, the biggest opposition party Johnson Asiedu Nketiah says the attitude put up by the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has vindicated their stance that she is being political rather than professional.

In a statement issued on June 12, 2019, John Asiedu Nketia revealed a moment during which men from the CID wanted to deny bail arrangements for NDC Chairman Ofosu Ampofo because of a “holding statement” issued by the NDC scribe.

The officers according to Johnson Asiedu Nketiah told lawyers for Mr. Ampofo that the latter will only be granted bail after the CID DG issued a statement to counter the NDC’s “holding statement”.

In an interview with host of the Gold Power Drive Samuel Eshun, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said the stance of the CID Boss is an indication that he is engaged in politics and not security.

The NDC scribe in his statement cautioned the CID against allowing itself to be used to “play politics with the lives and rights of citizens”.

“Ghanaians are very worried about the general state of insecurity in the country and that this apparent grand-standing by the Police CID is a far cry from their duty of being the primary defenders and protectors of all Ghanaians,” he stated.
