E/R: Police and armed robbers in shootout on Oterkpolu – Odumase Krobo road; one officer injured

The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has begun investigation into armed robbery attack which occurred Tuesday dawn on the Oterkpolu to Odumase Krobo Highways, Kasapa News writes.

Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Security Council has also decided to intensify Police Patrol on the highways,  after their last Tuesday dawn incidence.

Kasapa News reports that, a 6 member armed robbery gang mounted road block on Asitey Mountains -a section of the road and managed to rob three Vehicles -Daf Patrol Tanker ,and two Commercial Vehicles onboard with traders and took away their belongings including monies.

A Police officer was shot during the exchange of gun fire between the police and robbers.

Reports indicate that the armed men managed to overpower the military personnel and took away their riffles.

A reinforcement team of heavily armed military personnel was subsequently dispatched from Michel Camp to comb the area and pursue the armed men.

According to reports, after hours of the operation in the bush, two of the gunmen were arrested and four weapons including two of the military riffle, AK47 and a locally manufactured gun were retrieved.

Currently the military are still in the Odumase Krobo community searching for the remaining gunmen.

The two suspects have been transferred to Police Headquarters -Accra.

Meanwhile,Sargent Daniel Akamaro of the Regional SWAT Team who sustained injury has been treated and discharged from the Atua Government Hospital.
