Boling-Lana installed as Regent of Dagbon

The Abudu Royal Family at Yendi in the Northern Region has installed Boling-Lana Mahamadu Abdulai as Regent of Dagbon in line with the roadmap for the performance of the funerals of the two late Overlords of the traditional area.

This installation of the Regent, which was held at the forecourt of the Gbewaa Palace on Thursday, formed part of activities being undertaken in line with the roadmap agreed with the Committee of Eminent Chiefs on Dagbon towards performance of the funeral of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai (IV).

The installation ceremony was witnessed by dignitaries including Minister for National Security, Northern Regional Minister, traditional authorities and scores of people from all walks of life amidst heavy security presence.

On Wednesday, the Abudu Royal Family signed an undertaken to follow the roadmap as agreed with the Committee of Eminent Chiefs for the performance of the funeral of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai (IV) and vacate the Gbewaa Palace on December 28, 2018 to allow the Andani Royal Family to also enter the palace from January 04 to January 18, 2019 to perform the funeral of Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani (II).

Nanton Regent Sulemana Saaka, a leading member of the Abudu Royal Family, expressed gratitude to both royal families for allowing reasoning to prevail so that peace and prosperity would be restored to the Dagbon Kingdom.

He advised the youth of Dagbon to listen to elders and stop making divisive comments to ensure peace.
